Oklahoma's favorite son is getting another honor. Toby Keith is set to be immortalized with his own highway. The Oklahoma Senate officially passed House Concurrent Resolution 1019 last week, which will name the east-west connector turnpike “Toby Keith Expressway.” The roadway, which is now set to be built, will extend from Interstate 44 east to I-35 near Indian Hills Road, continuing east and north to I-40 at the Kickapoo Turnpike in the Oklahoma City area. Senator Lisa Standridge noted Keith’s patriotism and the impact he made on Oklahoma throughout his life. “Over the course of his legendary career, Toby Keith never forgot where he came from or what he stood for. His Oklahoma roots shaped him, and his love of America defined him. He was a country music superstar and a true patriot. I can think of no better way to honor his memory than by naming this future stretch of Norman turnpike in his honor, creating a lasting tribute to the legacy he leaves behind.”
Congratulations to Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren, who just welcomed baby #5! And, after a long wait, it's the first son for the couple. In a joint Instagram post, the couple said, "Oh. my. goodness. Our hearts are just in a big ole puddle with this precious baby BOY," adding, "Thomas Rhett was my biggest champion in labor & delivery He helped deliver him, was the first one to see and *tearfully*, mixed with a bit of shock announce to us all in the room “It’s a BOY.” Brave Elijah Akins arrived last week weighing “almost 10 pounds and almost 2 weeks early.” He joins four older sisters: Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love, and Lillie Carolina.
