Something To Think About On Veterans' Day

Here's a little about the songwriter, Brian Thomas Smith, a United States Army Veteran.

Brian says..."I served during peace times. I’m not a hero by any stretch. I love our combat veterans. Have loved WLLR for as long as I can remember as far back as the 1980s when I went on a tour bus in 1993 to Fan Fair. I met a local who invited me to join a group of songwriters stemming out of Nashville and wrote for a few years. Recently, in 2002, I was driving down the road in a company truck and witnessed a homeless soldier, standing under the entrance of what appeared to be a closed-down grocery. I attempted to acknowledge him, and he turned his back. It took me about two more blocks to come up with the first line of this song. Less than a week later, I was sitting at my swimming pool once again, ashamed when the second line to this song came. 'He said you know, I was thinking the same about you, you live on the same soil as I do, yet you’re still confused about how we got here.' The rest of the song wrote itself! If this song makes ground, what ever comes of it will go to our soldier organizations! I promise! Love America and we owe our soldiers. Love WLLR for this opportunity! By the way, if you get to see this video, the gentleman who plays the homeless soldier is one of my best friends and a Vietnam Veteran."

The song is below...thanks for sharing this with us, Brian!
