Congratulations to Miranda Lambert - who's been chosen to receive the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. She follows last year's icon, Toby Keith, who was named the inaugural "Country Icon" at the very first People's Choice Country Awards show. In a statement, Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment said of Lambert, "A tour de force in country music for more than 20 years, Miranda Lambert’s groundbreaking albums continue to capture the hearts of fans around the world. We’re so excited to celebrate her career, fierce individualism and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award." Miranda will be honored at the 2nd annual People's Choice Country Awards on Thursday, September 26 at 8 pm ET/PT, which will air live across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
Koe Wetzel is far from a household name. He's not yet had a radio hit and remains a relative unknown to the average country fan. That being the case, he's not exactly flying in private jets and being chauffeured to the convenience store. That didn't stop the rising country singer from making a significant donation to his hometown school district recently - and it's not the first one he's made. Every year, Koe donates money to the school district where he grew up and where his mother still works - Pittsburgh, Texas. This year was Koe's sixth annual donation, and it was a big one: $15-thousand. His mother said of Koe, "He doesn’t want anybody to go without. Doesn’t want anybody to walk in without new clothes. He’s a sweet boy and has a heart of gold." Maybe it's karma, but things are starting to break Koe's way; his latest song, "High Road" with Jessie Murph is his biggest hit yet and could very well get him that radio hit that's eluded him so far.
