A romantic wedding proposal turned into a nightmare for an Australian man who suffered severe burns and other injuries after setting up a bonfire which exploded due to the soon-to-be fiancé using gasoline as an accelerant. Adam Boots, in a hurry to create a romantic setting, made the deadly mistake of dousing the flames with gas, resulting in an explosion that ended up totally engulfing him. Hospitalized for weeks, Boots sustained burns to his legs, arms, and face, leaving him with permanent skin damage and a cautionary tale. Despite his harrowing ordeal, he eventually proposed to his partner...from his hospital bed.
