The success of Kenny Chesney's latest single is putting him in line with King George. "Take Her Home" earned a spot in the top ten on Billboard's Country Airplay Chart. With 61 top-tens, Kenny is now tied with one of his idols, George Strait. "Take Her Home" moved up two spots to number nine this week.
Kelly Clarkson proved once again yesterday that a country music career is hers if she wants it. On "The Kelly Clarkson Show," the host performed her "Kellyoke" segment, this time taking on the deep voice and very country tones of Josh Turner - and crushing it. For everyone that claims country music isn't country music anymore, the defense calls to the stand Cody Johnson. In the country genre, in 2024, Cody is almost single-handedly keeping classic-sounding country and Texas swing music alive, while also keeping it contemporary. Case in point: Cody's stellar rendition of the Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings classic "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys," recorded live at the 2023 ACM Awards, but officially released yesterday.
