In case you missed it...
CMT has announced the lineup for their upcoming event "CMT Smashing Glass: A Celebration of the Groundbreaking Women of Music." The program looks to recognize the women who paved the way for today's artists, as well as the women today who travel the path those icons cleared for them. Patti LaBelle and Tanya Tucker will be honored with one-of-a-kind performances and presentations from Billie Jean King, Chris Janson, Clint Black, Fancy Hagood, Ledisi, and The War & Treaty. LaBelle and Tucker will also take part in a special roundtable conversation with Sheryl Crow before each taking the stage for their own performances. Amber Riley, Lucie Silvas and Mickey Guyton will honor the late women of music with “Moments of Respect” and tribute medleys to Aretha Franklin, Sinead O’Connor, and Tina Turner. The star-studded event premieres Wednesday at 8 pm on CMT.
The nominations for the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced Friday morning, and as usual, there were surprises and snubs galore. Two big snubs when it comes to country music: the genre as a whole went unnominated in three of the "Big Four" categories - Song, Record and Album of the Year; and Morgan Wallen's monster year went almost entirely ignored as the singer earned zero nominations - though his "Last Night" earned nominations for its songwriters in the Best Country Song category. On the plus side of things, Brandy Clark was one of the most-nominated artists in all genres, with six nominations, while Tyler Childers scored five noms and Chris Stapleton and Zach Bryan each earned three. Jelly Roll and The War And Treaty were both nominated in the all-genre Best New Artist category, and Childers was nominated in the all-genre Best Music Video category for "In Your Love." The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday February 4th, and will broadcast live on CBS and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
