Jason Aldean has achieved his first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with "Try That In A Small Town" - and while this is a career first for Aldean, it also denotes a first in the history of the chart. With Aldean in the top spot, Morgan Wallen's "Last Night" at #2 and Luke Combs' "Fast Car" at #3, country hits take the Hot 100’s top three spots in a single week for the first time, dating back to the Hot 100’s inception in August 1958. The single went from "just another country single" to a lightning rod in a matter of days when CMT dropped the video from rotation, sparking a firestorm on the Internet and a controversy that drew political leaders, musicians and talking heads into the conversation. In related news, Brittany Aldean documented the celebration the family held for her husband's first Hot 100 #1. “Well, yesterday was a monumental day for @jasonaldean ❤️ #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart!! …A career first 🙏🏼,” she wrote in the caption of her latest Instagram post. In attendance were their close family and friends, as well as country superstar Luke Bryan.
Carrie Underwood is back on Sunday Night Football. The country icon will open the show with an updated rendition of her hit song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night." This is her 11th year as the voice of SNF. The visuals are said to be surprising. Underwood is excited to be back, saying, “Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play. I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!” Sunday Night Football returns to NBC on September 10th.
