With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, PBS is once again putting on their annual "National Memorial Day Concert" on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The event, which has been held for over thirty years, has been a celebration of national pride and a memorial to those that gave their lives while in uniform. Celebrities and musicians have been central to the celebration over the years, and this year is no different. Gary Sinise, Joe Mantegna, Dulé Hill and more will be on hand, as well as musical performers Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, War And Treaty, Yolanda Adams, the National Symphony Orchestra, The US Army Chorus, The US Air Force Singing Sergeants, the US Navy Sea Band Chanters and more. The "National Memorial Day Concert" on PBS premieres this Sunday, with most stations airing the concert at 7:00 p.m. CT and repeating the program at 9:30 p.m. ET. Check your local listings.
CMA Fest is getting the documentary treatment. The Country Music Association is readying the release of "CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair," a history and celebration of the long-running country music fan festival. The doc will feature exclusive interviews with Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Wynonna, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, BRELAND, Brothers Osborne, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, Lainey Wilson and Trisha Yearwood among others. Along with the artists, there'll be plenty of great country music. The documentary debuts on Hulu July 5th.
Chase Rice loves to interact with the crowd when he performs. He may be having second thoughts about that after this weekend's show in Morgantown, West Virginia. Chase pulled a fan up on stage to sing one of West Virginia's state songs, "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver. Pulling a young female fan on stage he gave her the mic so she could have her moment - and what a moment it was. After about a minute of ear-shattering, tuneless screeching, Chase did his best Simon Cowell impression: "That's the worst rendition of 'Country Roads' I've ever heard in my life!"
