A new NBC show seems to be following in the footsteps of Hulu’s “Only Murders In The Building.” The network recently unveiled a trailer for “Based On A True Story,” a new dark comedy that points the camera at America’s fascination with true crime.
The series, which stars EMMY-nominee Kailey Cuoco and Chris Messina, was announced during NBCU’s Upfront event in New York City yesterday. Cuoco and Messina star as a couple struggling after Messina’s Nathan loses his job while Cuoco’s Ava is expecting their first child. In act of desperation, the normal couple decides to track down their local serial killer… and maybe goes too far.
Craig Rosenberg, from Prime’s “The Boys,” serves as showrunner, while Jason Bateman is also on-board as an executive producer. “Based On A True Story,” drops on Peacock on June 8th.
