It appears neither Ryan Murphy nor Netflix were bothered by the criticism surrounding the debut season of his Netflix crime thriller series “Monster.” The first chapter, fully titled “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” received praise and admonishment following its close portrayal of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Now the “Nip/Tuck” hitmaker has announced plans for a second installment that will focus on siblings/parent-killers Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were convicted of murdering Jose and “Kitty” Menendez in 1996. “Monsters: The Erik And Lyle Menendez Story” is the first of two new seasons that Netflix has ordered from Murphy.
The Menendez story has recently reignited in Hollywood, not far from the Beverly Hills home where the crime took place. Peacock recently released “Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed,” which alleges Jose Menendez, Erik and Lyle’s father and music exec, molested Menudo band member Roy Roselló.
