Showtime has announced that their new series “George & Tammy,” featuring Jessica Chastain as Tammy Wynette and Michael Shannon as George Jones, is the most-watched premiere in the history of the network. The premiere of the limited series grabbed 3.3 million live and same-day viewers during its simulcast on Showtime, CMT, and Paramount. The rest of the series will be available on Showtime on Sunday nights at 9 p.m., but new episodes will be available to Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers earlier, becoming available to stream on Fridays. Chastain has earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Wynette.
CMT is set to air an all-star Christmas special next Wednesday called “CMT Campfire Sessions Christmas Edition” with a fantastic lineup of stars. Tracy Lawrence, Clay Walker, Jon Pardi, Lily Rose, and more will all be on the show singing Christmas songs. The special is scheduled to air on December 21st at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on CMT.
