Sheryl Crow has had a more-than-successful music career - from touring with Michael Jackson to recording with Stevie Wonder and Jimmy Buffett to her own incredible solo career. It would be understandable if she just wanted to take it easy, but instead, the singer is branching into films. While filmwork isn't familiar ground, it's not totally foreign: Crow has recorded songs for movie soundtracks like "Point Break" and "Stone Cold". So her new role as executive producer for the CBS Christmas film "When Christmas Was Young" - a movie that involves musicians and is set in Nashville - shouldn't be that big of a leap for her. Oh, and she's also written and recorded the title song for the movie. The film stars Tyler Hilton as a desperate music manager in search of a song, and Karen David as the retired musician who wrote the song - and won't let him have it. Cue the conflict and the romantic sparks! You can see the trailer here - and see the whole movie on CBS on December 18.
Dolly Parton's new Christmas special airs this week. "Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas" premieres on Thursday on NBC and Peacock. It's set in the country music icon's Dollywood theme park. Earlier this year, Dolly was spotted filming at the park with Willie Nelson, Jimmy Fallon and Billy Ray Cyrus. Dolly says NBC wanted a special, and this musical should fit the bill.
There may be no worse time to wind up in the hospital than during a headlining tour, but that’s what happened to Jake Owen in October. While he hasn’t said why he had to go to the hospital, Owen did hit social media with an important piece of advice. “Just because there’s a smile on someone’s face, doesn’t mean they aren’t goin thru something,” he wrote on Instagram,” then said that “Sometimes as men, we are stubborn. I know for a fact I am. I push it to the limits. I always have. I always will…” He admitted in an interview that his main issue is “I literally do not sleep.”
