The series tells the fictional story of the first family of country music, the Roman Family, led by Abbie and Dottie Cantrell Roman, played by Trace and Susan, and follows Dottie’s desperate desire to preserve the family legacy, which is threatened. The show is sort of the network’s country version of their hit “Empire.” The couple’s daughter Nicky, played by Friel, wants to follow in her family’s footsteps but is so far unsuccessful, with the family also made up of daughter Gigi, played by Beth Ditto, and record industry exec Luke, played by Joshua Sasse. The series also features a central mystery, and several time jumps to keep fans guessing about what's going on.
