In case you missed it...
The University of Texas (UTA) in Austin is set to launch a new course all about Taylor Swift this autumn. The class is called “The Taylor Swift Songbook” and it’ll explore her songwriting. Her songs will be read alongside Shakespeare, Chaucer, Sylvia Plath, and Keats. Course texts include her albums “Folklore,” “Evermore,” “Lover,” and her reissue of “Red.” The description of the course on UTA’s website shares that this course will use “the songwriting of pop music icon Taylor Swift to introduce literary critical reading and research methods-basic skills for work in English literature and other humanities disciplines.” It also adds, “Focusing on Swift’s music and the cultural contexts in which it and her career are situated, we’ll consider frameworks for understanding her work, such as poetic form, style, and history among various matters and theoretical issues important to contextualisation as we practice close and in-depth reading, evaluating secondary sources, and building strong arguments.”
Just because they are married now doesn’t mean Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are gonna let their guard down when it comes to competing in "The Voice." And that’s pretty evident based on the latest trailer for the new season. In the clip, new mentor Camila Cabello asks them, "Have you guys made a rule that you won't get into real fights?,” to which Blake says, “no,” and Gwen adds, “We’re gonna fight.” Later Blake actually has the nerve to keep his wife from getting one of the contestants, noting, "I literally used my block on my wife," to which Gwen snaps back, "Are you serious?!" You’ll have to check out the happy couple arguing for yourself when season 22 of “The Voice” debuts September 22nd on NBC. Check out the trailer below.
