In case you missed it...

When Dolly Parton was first nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame she said it made her think about recording a rock album, and now that she’s been chosen as one of this year’s inductees she’s got some ideas for the record. In an interview with “Billboard,” Dolly says one rock artist she’d love to work with is the Rolling Stones. "I’ve always wanted to do the song 'Satisfaction,'" Dolly shares. "That’s one of my husband’s favorite songs. And I may have to drag Mick Jagger’s guys up there to help me sing it." She also adds, “I thought about writing a song called 'Rock of Ages,' where I get all the great old rock ‘n’ rollers, the people that I have always admired and respected.” And while she admits she “didn’t follow rock music that much,” she describes her hubby Carl Dean as a “rock ‘n’ roll freak.” She notes, “He loves all the groups and all the great stuff. I just liked certain records,” adding, “I may do up a version of something like [Lynyrd Skynyrd’s] “Free Bird” and do my own versions of some classic things that I think would make good rock ‘n’ roll songs."

The Grand Ole Opry is once again shining the spotlight on up and coming talent. The institution has just announced the first set of artists for its Opry NextStage Class of 2022, highlighting a new artist each month. Kicking things off this month is Elvie Shane, followed by Morgan Wade in June and Breland in July, with the rest of the class announced during the year. As part of his inclusion Elvie is set to play the Opry on Saturday. “The Opry has been at the forefront of keeping country music alive and well since its inception,” Elvie, shares. “I came from a place both literally and musically built on the same values and experiences. To be recognized by the country music congregation that is the Opry is a huge honor.”
