Nathan's Famous is adding a vegan hot dog to its menu come Monday, to keep in step with the times. The hot dog chain says it's partnered with Meatless Farms, a company that makes plant-based products to make the meatless hot dog, which has the same flavor as the original. James Walker, the president of Nathan's Famous restaurants, says the company spent a lot of time perfecting the vegan dog. If you plan on buying the online “kit,” it’ll set you back $45, and includes six dogs and buns, plus Nathan’s Famous deli mustard. No word on if Nathan's will let those in the famed hot dog eating contest on July 4th use the meatless product instead of the original.
