Would You Or Wouldn't You...?

While everyone’s flipping out about cicadas making their once-in-17-years appearance, a Maryland company is adding some crunch to their candy...with you guessed it – cicadas!

The company, Chouquette Chocolates, is selling chocolate-covered cicadas to celebrate the reappearance of the noisy insects. The fresh cicadas are frozen, before being air fried and dropped in milk or dark chocolate.

Interested? Experts say cicadas are low in fat and high in protein. And why not – billions of cicadas will emerge as temperatures warm in the eastern part of the U.S., with this year expecting its largest cicada appearance since 2004.

Periodical Cicada, Adult. Requires 17 years to complete development. Nymph splits its skin, and transforms into an adult. Feeds on sap of tree roots. Northern Illinois Brood is the largest emergence of cicadas anywhere.
