RAGBRAI Runs Through Southern Iowa This Week

This is not only the week leading up to our BIX 7 festivities, but it's also the week of RAGBRAI!! Bicyclists will be traveling in the southern third of Iowa this week, starting at Council Bluffs and ending in Keokuk on Saturday. As I was thinking about the riders, it struck me to bring up a subject you may not have thought of...safety...!! As you are driving this summer, be aware of bicyclists and walkers in the crosswalks and bike path crossings. If you're rolling up to an intersection, remember NOT to stop in the crosswalk. The law says to stop behind the crosswalk. This will allow those who are using it to avoid hitting you and, maybe more importantly, you hitting them. Thanks for being cautious and aware!!!
