World Record That's Truly EARNED!

A Brazilian woman is setting a Guinness World Record after riding a 68-foot tall wave. Surfer Maya Gabeira has even been presented with a certificate from Guinness World Records for the feat.

The video, which you can see below, shows the 31-year-old tackle the massive wave. It was taken earlier this year at Praia do Norte in Nazare, Portugal. Gabeira is also being honored by the World Surfing League.

The feat comes five years after she nearly drowned on a much smaller wave. “To set the world record has been a dream of mine for many years,” says Gabeira. "But of course, after the accident in Nazaré 2013 [when she was knocked unconscious and nearly drowned], it felt like a very distant dream. It took a lot of work to have a season like last year, to be 100 per cent again; and to complete it with a Guinness World Records title is quite special." Indeed.
