That Was A CLOSE One!!

NASA can’t detect everything that is a danger to us, but we really hope they do better.

The space agency says a small asteroid broke up over Africa Saturday. The six-foot-long rock had been discovered not long before it entered the atmosphere, causing a brief fireball. Astronomers say that the object was so small it never posed any threat. They also say the detection of such a small item before impact gives them confidence in their ability to predict and track potentially larger impacts.

A webcam caught the space rock’s final moments.
