Tributes To Troy Gentry And Don Williams

posted by Dani Lynn Howe -

Troy Gentry was tragically died in a helicopter crash on Friday and some country stars decided to pay tribute to the singer in song.

Dan + Shay posted an emotional tribute of them performing the Montgomery Gentry hit “Something To Be Proud Of.” “So today we heard the tragic news of Troy Gentry’s passing and our thoughts and our prayers go out to his family and his friends,” Dan Smyers says in the video. “We’ve always looked up to those guys and it was always such an honor to share the stage with them,” Shay Mooney adds, “Today, in honor of Troy, we’re gonna do one of our favorite songs of all time, ‘Something To Be Proud Of.'”

Meanwhile, Old Dominion paid tribute to Troy and Don Williams, who also passed away Friday, during their concert that night. The band performed Montgomery Gentry’s “My Town” and Williams’ “Tulsa Time.”  Jake Owen also paid tribute to Williams, sharing a performance of "Good Ole Boys Like Me." Check out all the performances to the right.

ONE MORE THING! Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard took to Instagram after hearing the news of Troy’s death, which personally hit him hard since ten years ago he lost his father in a helicopter accident. “My heart breaks, my heart hurts and I can’t help but go back to ten years ago when I lost my dad in a tragic helicopter crash as well, an experience that me and my whole family witnessed,” he says, urging fans to “lean on the Lord” and “dig into the Bible” to help.

Got a little choked up when the crowd started singing..but still. #mytown
