As her name suggests, Barbara Ann was born and raised a California beach girl in the small coastal town of La Jolla that the Beach Boys sing about in their 1963 hit song Surfin’ USA. In high school she lettered in Rodeo on the girls Barrel Racing Team so it was only natural she developed a love of country music. Barbara Ann has worked radio since 1981 and has worked some of the biggest heritage country stations in the country including KSON in San Diego, KYGO in Denver and WQYK in Tampa, Florida where she lived for close to 19 years. In 2015 she moved to the Quad Cities to be close to her daughter, who had moved here in 2013. Barbara Ann’s family roots are deep in Quad Cities. Her 2nd great aunt on her mother side was a teacher in the 1920’s at was is now Davenport Central High School. Her father was born into a prominent family in Des Moines where his father was the first Board Certified OBYN in Iowa. Her mother was born and raised in Princeton, Illinois.
Barbara Ann appeared as an extra in many films and TV shows in the 1980’s including Moonlight with Bruce Willis, The Best Of Times with Robin Williams and a very B rated horror film call Blood Beach. As a voice actress she has voiced TV spots that have run in San Diego, Tampa and Las Vegas. In 2015 she moved to part time radio work and full time work in Nursing as Patient Care Tech on a Heart Unit at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. These days, when not on air on WLLR, she works full time for a Quad Cities home health care company caregiving seniors with Dementia.
In the spare time she dabbles in screenwriting, gourmet cooking and takes kick boxing classes to stay in shape. She loves all animals especially her 2nd child Lucy a 4-year-old black domestic short haired cat. She lives in Davenport with her 30-something daughter.
