Cardi B is ending 2020 with a sigh of relief.
The “Press” rapper’s ongoing million-dollar dispute with ex-manager Klenord ‘Shaft’ Raphael came to an end this week — and Cardi seems to be pleased by the outcome.
The legal war all started in 2018 when Shaft filed a $10 million breach of contract lawsuit against the reality star-turned-world-famous musician, whom he claims he discovered in 2015. Despite allegedly helping to secure her breakout role on Love & Hip Hop and enlisting his team of writers and producers to engineer her smash hit “Bodak Yellow,” Shaft claims Cardi denied him proper payment once she started bagging millions.
Cardi ultimately walked away with the more favorable outcome on Christmas Eve (December 24) when the suit was dismissed with prejudice, meaning neither can bring the other back in court over the dispute.
Celebrating the victory on Twitter, the 28-year-old wrote, "Feels good to be free."
As per docs obtained by AllHipHop.com, “This action, including all claims and counterclaims, is hereby dismissed in its entirety with prejudice against all parties. The parties have further agreed that all parties to this action shall bear their own costs and attorney’s fees.”
The Grammy-winning musician filed a $30 million counterclaim, accusing Shaft of breaching their initial contract by failing to show an accurate accounting of her earnings and taking more of her earnings than what was legal. Not to mention the millions Cardi suffered in loss royalties due from her label Atlantic Records in the two years during the suit.
