The summer weather has finally arrived in the Quad Cities and after all the rain and bad weather the kids and you are dying to get out of the house and into the sunny outdoors.
What the heck can you do outdoors with kids that's a blast but inexpensive?
I have got some outdoor ideas that can transform the kids last month before school starts into a glorious summer adventure they will remember for the rest of their lives.
For a cool, refreshing and watery fun day your best bet in the QCA is:
Scott County Park 18850 270th St Eldridge, IA 52748 PHONE: 563-328-3282 Scottcountyiowa.com/conservation/scott-county-park
This 1000 acre park with a heated Olmpic-sized pool is a wonderful choice for the whole family. The public park and pool is open to anyone even outside of the Eldridge area. It has amazing water slides and even baby pools for the littlest ones in your family. Don't want to swim? No problem. They have a park next door with several picnic shelters, playgrounds, campgrounds, and trails for hiking, biking and paddleboats. The pool fees are $5 for 18 and older and $4 for 17 and under.
An even less expensive adventure is the Dickson Park Milan Spraygrounds located at 315 4th Ave East in Milan. It will be a blast for you and the kids to chase each other through the mountain like waterfalls and maze of ground sprinklers. For some it's a drive, but for a large family it's cheap watery fun at only $3 for anyone over 2. Children under 2 are free. The park is open noon to 6 pm Tue -Sun. Their number is 309-787-1543.
These prices are low but can add up for a family on a budget. No worries there is still an almost zero cost option for your family.
