Taylor Swift's Eras tour has been huge for Swifties, but it's also been huge for the American economy, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve. The Fed, which keeps tabs on all things money-related, issued a report saying that Tay's tour is the driving force behind a big boost to the travel and hotel industry -- which showed improvement for the first time since before the pandemic. In the so-called Beige Book, fed officials iwrote "May was the strongest month for hotel revenue in Philadelphia since the onset of the pandemic, in large part due to an influx of guests for the Taylor Swift concerts in the city.” And it wasn't just Philly. Chicago tourism officials said that thanks to Swift’s shows at Soldier Field, the city filled more than 44,000 hotel rooms each night, generating $39 million in total hotel revenue. (Billboard)
