The return of the Golden Globes is official. As we mentioned yesterday, the awards event hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the nominations for its 80th annual upcoming celebration. The January 10th ceremony will be the first non-distanced, fully-televised broadcast of the Globes since 2020. Last year’s event was private following a scandal that criticized the HFPA for a lack of diversity.
Leading the nominees this year was Searchlight Pictures’ “The Banshees Of Insiherin” with eight nods, followed closely by the indie breakout hit from A24 “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” The acting categories featured a number of “Comeback Stories,” including Brendan Fraser (“The Whale”) for Best Actor (Drama) and Ke Huy Quan (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) for Best Actor In A Supporting Role In Any Motion Picture.
