Halloween Etiquette You May Not Think About

Halloween is almost here and that means giving out treats or trick-or-treating. There are some rules that go with the holiday and “Today” has gathered all the etiquette tips you may not have thought about. Here are a few:

When Handing Out Treats:

  • Instead of saying “what are you?” say “Tell me about your costume”
  • Make sure to not dress too scary or you might freak out children on the spectrum
  • Participate in the teal pumpkin campaign. Have non-food items for kids with food allergies

For Trick-Or-Treating:

  • Part of the joy for those at home is hearing “trick-or-treat” and “thank you”. Have your little ones say that while going house to house
  • If it’s your first year, prep your child by exposing them to spooky decorations in daylight
  • Make sure your child doesn’t eat the candy until you’ve inspected it
  • If your teen is going out, remind them to be respectful of little kids
  • Also ask your teen for their logistics and set a check in time
