Animals causing traffic delays are common, but those animals being zebras is rare…especially near Chicago. Drivers in Pingree Grove, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, had to stop when two zebras began crossing Route 47. The animals had escaped the indoor zoo at Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard and struck out on their own. Illinois State Police were called in to handle the traffic, and after about two hours workers with the pumpkin patch and the zoo were able to track the zebras down and catch them. Authorities say the zebras blocked traffic several times in the area before they were caught.
