Officials with the I-74 bridge project have an update for us!
Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation will temporarily close the eastbound I-74 off-ramp to River Drive. This will be for Illinois-bound drivers. The off-ramp is anticipated to reopen on March 5.
Additionally, there will be an intermittent 20-minute closure of the on-ramp to westbound I-74 ramp at River Drive. That will begin on Jan. 8 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The closures are necessary to allow contractors to construct support piers and set steel girders over the ramps for the new I-74 bridge.
