(Washington, DC)  --  President Obama plans to keep nearly ten-thousand troops in Afghanistan beyond the end of this year.  A senior administration official says the President will have more to say about the Afghan mission this afternoon.  The President previously set the end of 2014 as the end of combat operations in the Afghan war.  Afghan President Hamid Karzai has so far refused to sign a security forces agreement that would allow U.S. troops to remain in his country.
